The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and the deputy speaker, Suleiman Lasun are absent from the on-going National Executive Committee meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
However, President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu are currently attending the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
Tinubu, who is not a member of NEC, is attending for the first time to participate in a meeting to resolve the seeming division over the mode of election to adopt for party primaries.
Dogara and Lasun, who hold the highest ranks for the party in the legislature, had earlier expressed their displeasure with the happenings within the party.
Lasun, who participated and lost in the direct method adopted for the Osun Governorship Primary, expressed his displeasure but said he will not the party.
“Although I was conspired against during the governorship primary, but I will not leave the party,” Lasun said.
The APC NEC is expected to announce a decision as to whether this system will be adopted for subsequent primaries.
