(Video) Osun PDP Chieftain, Ogunbiyi, votes in Ile-Ogbo

A people’s Democratic Party chieftain, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi has cast his vote at Methodist Elementary school, Ward 01, Unit 03, Ile-Ogbo, Ayedire LGA, Osun state.

He expressed his franchise after several weeks of contentions with the PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke.

Recall that Adeleke, who is the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP won the party’s keenly contested primary election conducted on the 21st of July by polling 1,569 votes to defeat Ogunbiyi, who trailed him with 1,562 votes.

But Ogunbiyi rejected the results, contending that the primary exercise was grossly marred by malpractices, just as he vowed to reclaim what he termed his stolen mandate.

His rejection of the results led to a row between the two.

However, the 85-member campaign committee of the party for the election, headed by Senate President Bukola Saraki, on September 5 settled the rift between the duo.

Ogunbiyi had since then pledged his support for the Ede-born candidate.

Ogunbiyi, last Thursday inaugurated 301 persons across Iwo federal constituency of the state to spur support for the party’s candidate, Adeleke Ademola, in today’s gubernatorial election.

He said the inaugurated individuals were drawn from each polling unit across Ayedire, Iwo and Olaoluwa local government areas of the federal constituency.

In a press statement by Ogunbiyi’s spokesman, Ismail Afolabi, it emphasised that Iwo and environs were underdeveloped and that the quest to guarantee better future for the communities and the state at large remain unnegotiable.
