Two reportedly dead as APC launches campaign in Lagos

Two people has been reportedly dead while several others were injured as the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) launched it’s governorship campaign in Lagos.

The rally, which was held at Skypower field, Ikeja , was marred after security operatives and political thugs face-off.

Trouble started at about 1:30 pm when Lagos governor, Akinwunmi Ambode was delivering his speech. Thugs shot in between the scene, while security officials made efforts to avert further trouble, others fled for their lives.I

Three journalists were shot at a rally organised for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Also, hoodlums took advantage of the occasion as they robbed people of their phones, money and bags.

A National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) official Musiliu Akinsanya also known as ‘Oluomo’ was beaten with sticks by thugs.

Despite the stampede caused by hoodlums and security men, Ambode continued his address and handed the microphone to the party candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who delivered the vote of thanks.

The campaign which started by 12:30 pm had party bigwigs in attendance, excluding the national chairman of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

As at the time of filling this report two people were reportedly killed.
