Christmas (December 25, 2018): Christians from all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day. Among the public holiday in Nigeria 2019, this public holiday is long-awaited and loved by millions of Nigerians.

Of course, December 25th is the public holiday when all employees are at home with their families. It’s the day to exchange gifts, have dinner together, and relax.

Boxing Day (December 26, 2018): This day is often a part of the Christmas holiday season. It is believed that the name ‘boxing’ appeared because many people were throwing away too many empty boxes after unboxing their Christmas gifts.

Nigerians, by the way, often call the Boxing Day the Day of Goodwill. You can see that the list of public holidays 2019 in Nigeria has many great days-off for each citizen.

Why 2019 election results may not favour Buhari

Inability of President Buhari Muhammadu to keep the coalition that was instrumental to his victory in 2015 election, and so this may give him bad 2019 election results, says Nigeria based analysis firm, SBM Intelligence.

2019 election results

“Buhari’s failure to keep the coalition that brought him into power, or at least preserve relations with most of the supporting cast that helped him secure the presidency, has created a significant impediment to his re-election,” SBM Intelligence said in a report titled “The Year Ahead – Choose your evil”

Buhari, who is seeking re-election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, failed to curtail mass defections of “key figures” to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which he seized power from at the polls in 2015.

Buhari’s main contender, Atiku Abubakar, defected last December, the Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and Rabiu Kwankwaso among others defected back to the PDP earlier this year.

The Intelligence firm, whose of the 32 projections it made at the end of 2017, 26 (81%) were correct, 4 (13%) were wrong, while 2 (6%) are either partially correct or unknown, said: “Nigeria is heading almost blindly, into an uncertain future”.

It envisaged that Buhari “may win but face a hostile national assembly” or “worst case scenario, he will lose the election.”

SBM Intelligence said, either way, pastoral conflict tends to intensify after the 2019 election results poll is announced.

While the increasing numbers of Boko Haram attacks against the Nigerian Army have raised security questions before next year’s election and the 2019 election results, SMB Intelligence said: “a disputed result is very likely for 2019 poll, raising the prospect post-election violence.”

“We believe that electoral violence in 2019 will be of a greater magnitude than in 2011,” SMB Intelligence said.

“This is all the more important as there is a risk that in Buhari and Atiku, Nigeria has two candidates whose flaws and strengths are so familiar that they will be unable to inspire sufficient turnout at the polls.”

Also, fear heightened on Thursday when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Amina Zakari, supposed niece of President Muhammadu Buhari, as Head of Collation Centre for the 2019 elections.

While some, led by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have described the appointment of Zakari as a ploy to rig the 2019 election results, others see the brouhaha surrounding her appointment as making a mountain out of a molehill.

Zakari has said she has no familial relationship with the president.

“I’m not his niece, I’m not his cousin,” Zakari told BBC Igbo.

“I’ve been appointed since 2010 by President Jonathan and prior to that, I was appointed an SA to President Obasanjo and I have done my work conscientiously over the years as a patriotic citizen of Nigeria.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari is my president as he is everybody else’s president,” she added.

The People’s Democratic Party, the Inter-Party Advisory Council and several political parties had variously called on INEC to rescind her appointment.

PDP further claimed that Zakari has “blood relationship” with Buhari and her appointment was an attempt to rig the poll in Buhari’s favour.

Buhari has since denied having any familial relationship with Zakari.

“President Buhari and Commissioner Amina Zakari don’t share a family relationship,” said Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu also dismissed the opposition allegations.

“I am absolutely responsible for the coordination of the secretariat for the collation of results,” he told AFP.

“But somebody has to prepare the venue for the conduct of the election, the internet service that we have to provide, accreditation of international observers and the media,” he added.

Zakari insisted that she was focused on her doing the job she has been given by INEC and that controversies were a needless distraction for her.

“I don’t think I should be distracted now that elections are coming,” she said.

She noted that she has been with INEC prior to the 2011 presidential elections which the then Candidate Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Progressive Change lost to Jonathan.

“People that complained have closely worked with me. They have not accused me of any wrongdoing over the years,” she said.

“If they have, I will love them to come forward and prove it to the nation and the world at large.”

Why Martin Luther King jr day 2019 is little later than usual

It’s another new year and what every Americans worker is looking forward to is the Martin Luther King jr day 2019 holiday which comes every year in late January.

Many Americans in this new year will get a long weekend off from work or school thanks to the Martin Luther King jr day 2019, which falls on Monday, January 21, this year.

The late civil rights icon’s actual birthday is on January 15, but The Old Farmer’s Almanac noted that the holiday is always observed on the third Monday in January.

Several cities and states began to mark the day in 1971, just three years after his death, and the date became an American federal holiday in 1986.

Hundreds of streets in the United States have been renamed in King’s honour, as well as a whole county in Washington State.

If he were still alive, King would be turning 90 this year according to Because it’s a federal holiday, USA Today explained that post offices, banks, and courts are closed.

Schools are typically closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, as well (although, as The Atlantic detailed, sometimes districts decide to hold classes on the holiday as a way to make up for snow days).

But as you enjoy Martin Luther King jr day 2019 holiday, it’s important to reflect on the man the day honors — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — and the impact he made on the country.

Dr. King rose to prominence as a leader of the civil rights movement. He lead the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955, which kicked off in response to the arrest of Rosa Parks after she refused to give up her bus seat, according to Threats against King and attempts on his life began with that first major protest action, including the bombing of his home. Nonetheless, the boycott worked and in just over a year, Montgomery buses were desegregated.

In 1963, King delivered the famed speech that every school kid learns these days. The “I Have a Dream” speech was given as part of the March on Washington, according to the King Institute.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character,” he said in one of its most quoted lines. He met with John F. Kennedy afterward to press the president to extend more rights to African-American men and women.

King’s activism continued right up until his death in 1968, when he was assassinated by James Earl Ray. He was just 38 years old when he was shot and killed on a balcony at the Lorraine Hotel in Memphis, TN. The site has since been turned into the National Civil Rights Museum.

The push for a holiday honoring King began right away, but it would be a few decades before it finally came to fruition. Some of the fiercest pushback came from the late Senator Jesse Helms, who’s gone down in history as a racist, reported The Washington Post.

The bill eventually overcame the opposition though, and President Ronald Reagan finally signed it into law in 1983 according to Time. It was first celebrated as a federal holiday in 1986.

Some states were reluctant to take part in MLK Day, however, and The New York Times reported that it wasn’t until 1999 that the last state (New Hampshire) finally got on board.

If you don’t have to go to work or school on January 21 thanks to Martin Luther King jr day 2019, you might consider using it as an opportunity to volunteer. The Corporation for National and Community Service urges people to think of it as a “day on” as opposed to a day off and spend it in service to others — the perfect way to honor King’s life and work.

via GIPHY

How is Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrated?

The day is a federal holiday so civil servants and most school pupils get the day off.

Some private companies opt to have a paid holiday on MLK Day.

It is a day to educate kids and adults about race relations and over the years it has evolved into a “day of service” – when Americans are encouraged to volunteer.

The US financial markets will be closed for the day.

The Beautiful Things About The Ups And Downs Of Relationships

Relationships are not all roses and bunnies. Sometimes there are thorns. The beauty is how well the conflict is settled to make the relationship even stronger.

Pop star sweetheart Rihanna was spotted last Friday with her billionaire ex-boyfriend, Hassan Jameel, vacationing in Mexico. Although they separated about a month ago with the singer declaring that she was just tired of men, the two were seen having what resembled an argument.

This has left fans and the media speculating whether they are getting back together or if the argument will ruin whatever is left of their relationship.

Arguments are sometimes healthy in a relationship. It gives room for important discussions to be held. But couples should find ways to resolve arguments before they spiral into something nasty.

On the other hand, in a show of platonic love, movie director Tyler Perry gave an expensive gift to his friend, Tiffany Haddish. They are not dating, at least not right now.

Tyler Perry and Tiffany Haddish. Photo: The Source

He bought her a brand new Tesla SUV worth over N47.4 million, saying, “Love you, Tiffany. Proud of you girl. It’s all yours, here in L.A. waiting for you.” She broke down in tears because she didn’t expect such an act of love coming from a friend.

This is a pure example of what true love and friendship are about: sacrificing and making a friend happy. The gift is not only expensive but also very thoughtful.

In a relationship, the two individuals need to have a friendship based on trust, respect and love, regardless of the arguments that may arise.

The question is, how many people will go to such lengths for a platonic friend if given the opportunity?

#BBNaija: Who Will Win BBNaija 2018? Miracle, Cee-C, Tobi, Alex or Nina? Vote

The most talked about reality show will come to end in less than 3 days. The reality show which housed about twenty housemates at the beginning, all hoping to go home with N45m worth of prizes. But now, the number has been pruned down to five. Fans of BBNaija have already begun to launch campaigns for their favourite housemate. A saw a video of one the housemates (my favourite though) this morning and I thought to myself, who will win BBNAIJA 2018???

Let us know who you think will win via the poll below, but before you vote let me share my personal perspectives about the finalists.

Miracle If previous voting patterns are considered, then Miracle should win the show by a large margin. Every time, the pilot is up for eviction, his fans deliver the votes massively. On social media, team Miracle is making the loudest noise.

Tobi Fans of this well-built 23-year-old point to the fact that he is the most ‘complete’ of the housemates. Complete in the sense that they feel he possesses all the qualities the winner of BBNaija should have. He also has a lot of celebrities.

Nina is the quiet one of the house and she is also the youngest. This is enough reason many of her fans want her to win. She is also sort of a second choice for people who cannot make up their mind between her and Miracle her boo.

The dancer of the house had earlier revealed that she will use the prize money to take care of her sick father and her siblings that is if she wins. An underdog, her ‘humble’ background may swing enough votes her way.

Cee-C Any scenario that involves Cee-C winning the show is very difficult to imagine. But one can never be sure. Her controversial nature may just be enough reason for people to vote for her.

Meet Founder of Aunty Lanre initiative :CRYSTALVERTS PERSONALITY OF THE WEEK

Hello there! It’s another edition of interview segment. How’s the day and trust it has been stress-free. Before moving on, the sole aim of this concept is to motivate youths out there via people’s success stories and start up experiences. We seek to teach, encourage and motivate our readers to give room for the manifestation of the Kings in them. And today, we have a Q&A segment with a great woman, the lead volunteer at “AUNTY LANRE INITIATIVE” popularly known as Aunty ‘Lanre. Sit back, read through and stay motivated.

CRYSTALVERTS: Good day, Ma. Can we know you?

AUNTY LANRE: My name is Olanrewaju Onasanya, wife to an amazing husband and Mum to a Super Star Son. I’m from a family of 8, the third of six children. I’m a social entrepreneur. I believe that life is about other people, and as much as possible, I try to help people when I can.

CRYSTALVERTS: Thanks for that, Ma. Research reveals that you are the lead volunteer at AUNTY LANRE INITIATIVE; can you please explain what AUNTY LANRE INITIATIVE is all about?

AUNTY LANRE: Yes, dear. Your research result is accurate. At Aunty Lanre Initiative, we help provide physical, emotional, psychological support to Orphans and vulnerable children living in orphanage homes in Africa. For the past 3 years, we have worked with Orphanage homes in Ibadan. Currently, we have 2 main Projects; The Orphanage Tour which holds in summer (August and September) and Children Christmas Experience which holds every last Sunday of the year, bringing together all the children from the orphanages together to give them their best Christmas experience.

Also, we partner and collaborate with other NGOs; we have worked with a sister NGO to gain full scholarships for 3 children from two orphanages into a prestigious school in Ibadan. We also partnered with a friend to enroll 6 Children into his cinematography school during summer.

CRSTALVERTS: Sounds great. Can you please explain to our readers, how you were able to start this initiative and the project you’re currently working on?

AUNTY LANRE: I started Aunty Lanre Initiative after I stumbled upon what true religion really is in James 1:27, it says True religion is taking care of orphans and vulnerable children in their time need… (My own translation).

We just concluded a skill acquisition program for children ages 7-18 in 9 orphanage homes. It took place in September (5 Saturdays in Sept).

CRYSTALVERTS: Thank you ma. This concept is wired for spurring youths out there on the path of their chosen fields. We understand fully well that AUNTY LANRE INITIATIVE is an NGO, we would love you to explain to our readers how you have been able to get sponsors, volunteers and team members to work with you.

AUNTY LANRE: Honestly, for every project, you need funds, no matter how huge or small the project is and so far, we have been employing the use of crowd funding. We get funds from family, friends, and the general public who would love to also be a part of what we do…

How we get volunteers? We simply publicize our project and call for volunteers, and they come. Over the Years, we’ve had volunteers who have been with us for a long time, majority of them make up Aunty Lanre Initiative Team Members also known as Executive members.

CRYSTALVERTS: Thank you, ma. If we are not wrong, what ignited this passion in you? Was it that you had a personal experience or something?

AUNTY LANRE: What ignited this passion? Like I always say, no matter how self-centered a person is, we all have that part of us that wants to do good. I’ve always loved kids…I’m passionate about seeing them grow into productive citizens of the country. Working in a school environment, volunteering with a group of people at a particular orphanage every Tuesday (at that time) and the desire to be productive and busy with my “Singlehood” at that time ignited the passion.

CRYSTALVERTS: Being a female and having to front an initiative as this, are there gender related challenges. If yes, what are they and how have you been able to handle them?

AUNTY LANRE: Gender related challenges? Not at all. I don’t remember any challenges faced because I’m female.

CRYSTALVERTS: Thanks for that. Research also reveals that you are married, you are into charity and Orphange outreaches, and how have you been able to combine your duty as a wife with also being a founder of an NGO?

AUNTY LANRE: Before I got married, I had started and I’m glad it was around that time I met my husband. Marrying someone whose dreams, purpose and passion aligns with yours is the key; it helps to balance the equation. It’s Called AuntyLanre Initiative but majority of the steps taken and the decisions made aren’t just mine. My husband has quite an experience with social entrepreneurship and that just butters my bread. So, for me, it’s not so difficult combining them all

CRYSTALVERTS: Which means your husband is a great supporter. Ma, These children you cater for, have history of a rather rough background and have faced several obstacles, how do you win their trust such that they open up to you?

AUNTY LANRE: How do we win their trust? Coming from a rough background is reason enough for them to build a fence around themselves but over the years, I have learnt that quality time spent, love shown from a sincere heart, and opening up your heart to them helps them open up to us. We usually say that, as much as they need food, clothing and shelter, they also have emotional and psychological needs that should be met.

CRYSTALVERTS: With the economic situation of the country and the kind of government we have today, do you think they are helping the fight against juvenile delinquencies?

AUNTY LANRE: Juvenile delinquencies?? I’m not sure I have seen that anywhere yet. Vulnerable children shouldn’t be left to roam about on the streets but should be properly taken care of to avoid Child Crimes and all.

CRYSTALVERTS: Permit us to ask, do you see yourself in government in the nearest future?

AUNTY LANRE: Being in the Social Work Sphere is already an opportunity to be in government, we can effect the change we want to see in the lives of the children we are working with. I would love to work in the Ministry of women affairs and children in future would also love to Work with the ministry of education.

CRYSTALVERTS: Thank you ma for your time, any advice for youths in general, and also for sponsorship, we would love you to drop your contact.

AUNTY LANRE: Like I say to everyone I meet, Life is about others, don’t be self-centered. Do the little you can. If you can’t feed a thousand, feed one. If all you can give is a warm smile and a big hug, your time and attention, a sachet of water, Go ahead! It starts with your little drop of water.

Year in Review

Coming into 2017, Capitalfield Group makes bold to say that they have concluded effectively their three- year Business plan that ran from 2014. In clearer terms the Groups business objectives realized are:

 1. Revenue consolidation across board within the Group hedging diversification of businesses.
 2. The Group organizational restructuring now in transition went from an operating group model to a strategic architect/manager operating model due for completion in 2018
 3. Channel integration among Strategic Business Units is in place to ensure opportunities of scale within the Group.

Comforting to note were the steps taken to achieve and sustain these strategic objectives. During the year there was a consistent effort to recruit competent and suitable human resource into the various roles, especially Senior Management across the SBU’s and Group to compliment the larger objectives of transformation.

Furthermore, we deployed infrastructure investments in Information Technology and Risk Management to shore up operating efficiency and assurance.

This also came with a detailed polices and procedural framework for all operating functions to ensure control and best practice in service delivery

These are many strides taken which are deepening the Groups commitment to expanded business aspirations.

The Future Outlook

Granted the new vigor with the Federal Governments drive perform on the just passed 2017 national budget, Capitalfield will ensure it is well consolidated to reap the gains of various interventions programmed for the third and fourth quarter.

That is why they have been making extensive efforts to deepen their diversified subsidiary companies; in marine, mining and agro spheres. This consolidation will address enhancing viable product lines, market integration and business footprints. The Group is currently pursuing growth in line with the 4-G Growth Model: Thereby aggressively pursuing growth across the lines of consistent growth, competitive growth, responsible growth and profitable growth. In addition, while managing national geo-economic headwinds, Capitalfield has spotted viable opportunities on the continental front which they will be pursuing to enable their West African regional footprint.

Furthermore, cost efficiency underscored by value proposition remains the watchword in all their dealings; which led them to a more suitable fruit-bearing location in Victoria Island, which is cementing the Groups market presence as an emerging beacon of Nigerian enterprise.
