33-year-old final year student emerges Plateau State Speaker

The lawmaker representing Jos East constituency, Abok Izam, has emerged the new Speaker of the ninth Plateau State House of Assembly.

Izam, 33, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, emerged Speaker at the Assembly complex in Jos on Monday following his nomination by Mr Ibrahim Baba Hassan of Jos North North constituency and seconded by Mrs Esther Simi Dusu of Jos North West constituency.

Saleh Yipmong of Dengi constituency was elected as deputy speaker.

The Deputy Speaker’s nomination was moved by the lawmaker representing Langtang Central constituency, Mr Daniel Nanbol of the PDP and was seconded by Nanlong Daniel who represents Mikang constituency.
