Celebrity Gist

Pint sized comedian, Koffi, raised more than a few eyebrows on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 when he wrote a stern open letter to one of the hottest Nigerian artistes of the moment; Kiss Daniel, and his management, asking them to watch their ways if they didn’t want the ‘Woju’ crooner’s career to go on a steady decline like some big names such as Burnaboy, 9ice and the likes.

“Album is a few weeks away and the management of an artiste turns down major interviews, over bills clients for gigs and would rather arrogantly stay home on each of those days and loose mileage, connect and some rabar… Here you are an advanced ‘Photocopy’ version of 9ice and you ain’t picking points from what happened to your original progenitor despite his huge success…,” Koffi wrote.

This led many to wonder what could have transpired between the entertainers for Koffi to launch such an attack. While some fans in their comments suggested that Koffi could be jealous of his younger colleague’s steady rise, others agreed with the wisdom in the comedian’s letter as they advised Kiss Daniel to heed to the warning in his best interest.

A Celeb Police agent quizzed Koffi today on his viral rant and he assured us that he had absolutely nothing personal against Kiss Daniel but that he had to warn the singer to put things right with his management before it became too late.

Koffi also revealed that Kiss Daniel’s manager was actually his ‘good friend’ whose recent ‘unprofessional behaviour’ put his own integrity to question hence his tirade.

Koffi said, “It wasn’t an attack on Kiss but a strong nugget for his management because if I don’t protect the vocation, it would rub off on me eventually. Entertainment is losing its grip because we don’t have bodies to protect the industry. People bring in money to entertainment without respecting the etiquette of the job.

“Let me tell you what happened. I referred them (Kiss Daniel through his Manager) to a client but he messed up on things bordering on integrity and the disappointed client called me and said, ‘The person you referred to me get as e be o. All you entertainers, only god knows what is wrong with you.’ That was where I realised that when some of our colleagues misbehave, people might generalize and say that’s how we all are. Trust me, it was not a personal attack on Kiss Daniel.”

The comedian, who insisted that he had absolutely no regrets about all he said also revealed that he only put down the post when a highly influential Lagos ‘Mummy’ whose identity he told CP not to reveal appealed to him. “I don’t regret my actions and I don’t think what I said was wrong but when an elderly person appeals to you to do something you have to obey.

Koffi was also asked to explain his shading of everyone else since it was Kiss Daniel’s management that stepped out of line as he said but he insisted that everything he stated were facts. “For example, we were at a gig in Abeokuta with Oritsefemi, and after the show, the client said they would never have something to do with him again because of the way he conducted himself there. Our artistes need to fully understand that having successful careers required a lot more than talent, integrity and good management is also crucial,” Koffi said.

Celeb Police did not let Koffi off the hook without getting his reaction to people commenting that his own career was also dead. “I like that some people felt that my career was dead. It will make me go another route to showcase the things I’m doing to the public. I know what I’m worth, my career is doing fantastically well. My YouTube channel is one of the best when it comes to quality comedy and it has a very good audience. I thank the fans for bringing it to my attention that I need to promote myself more,” Koffi added.

The comedian recently dropped a fresh single, Sombori Ft Chigurl off his anticipated CollaboraShunz album.
