Chelsea plotting move for Leicester striker after securing Edin Dzeko deal

Antonio Conte is so keen to sign competition for Alvaro Morata he wants TWO new strikers Chelsea have made an approach to Leicester City to sign striker Islam Slimani on loan as they seek to bolster their misfiring frontline before the January window closes, according to reports.

Antonio Conte is unhappy with the attacking options currently available and wants more cover and competition for out-of-form striker Alvaro Morata, who has not scored in his last six games. The Italian manager admitted that his club-record signing is struggling to adapt to both playing so regularly and being the focal point up front, so wants to share the load.

Slimani only has one goal in 14 Premier League appearances this season. Conte is targeting a forward with Premier League experience and is already closing in on a deal for Roma star Edin Dzeko, but The Times report that they will try to land Slimani too.

The Algerian, unlike Dzeko, would be eligible to play in the Champions League, with Leicester having failed to qualify for European competition this season.
