Another celebrity war is brewing as billionaire’s son, Damilola Afolabi, aka L.A.X, has used his latest single ‘Awon Da’ under his new record label to diss Starboy Chief, Wizkid, who sacked him without fulfilling his contract of releasing two albums in a 2-year deal.
The new single which was released under Rasaki Records and directed by Q, gave a hint on what led to his sack and addresses some of the issues he had with Wizkid with lyrics like, “put some respect to my name, money is speaking”. With some other lyrics in Yoruba “Awon da won ni logo, awon da won dad an mo, awon da won o ni story, awon da won o ni number, awon da”. (Where are they? They lacked identity. They don’t have a good story to tell. They are not recognized where money is speaking)
In August 2013, Wizkid announced on twitter that he has signed “Ginger” crooner, L.A.X to his Starboy Records while, this billionaire’s son of Sifax Group boss also confirmed in an interview he granted a Lagos based Magazine in 2014 that, “I have a record label deal with Starboy to release two albums in a duration of two years”. But his contract which ended in 2015 was without an album as promised which was also followed by a sack.
L.A.X confirmed his independence from Starboy Records with the release of this new song as he announced Rasaki Records as his new abode, a move that has reduced the bubbling label to artistes like; Eyfa, R2Bees and Mr Eazi.
