Breaking: Armed thugs invade polling unit in Orolu

Some suspected armed thugs on Saturday invaded a polling unit in Orolu Local Government Area during the ongoing governorship election in Osun State.

Our correspondent gathered that the thugs shot indiscriminately while people fled in different directions.

It could not be ascertained whether anybody was killed or injured during the shooting and the ensuing pandemonium.

The Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr, Olusegun Agbaje confirmed the attack in an interview with our correspondent.

He stated that the Divisional Police Officer in the area was quickly contacted to restore normalcy.

Agbaje said, “The report has been very peaceful. It was only at Orolu LGA where you have some issues. Armed thugs invaded the place but the DPO has been alerted and he is on his way to the place. It is a particular unit but I have not gotten to the place. But generally, it has been very okay.”
