The Osun State Police command has, last week, raided members of a suspected gangster causing pendulums in Egbatedo area of Osogbo, the state capital.
According to a resident of Egbatedo who didn’t want his name in print for security reasons, men of the Nigeria Police Force stormed the crisis prone area last Friday and arrested no fewer than 15 suspects over breach of peace.
The operation was initiated by the state commissioner of Police, Femihen Adeoye shortly after some members of the group allegedly whistled one Hammed Adeyemi, 27, to the area and forcefully collected 100,000 naira from him.
Our source added that the inhabitants of the area were particularly happy and appreciated the efforts of the police towards restoring peace back to the community.
His words: “We are happy and commend the police for coming to our rescue. The bad boys smoke Indian hemp publicly at will and are always battle ready. They torment people and we can’t challenge them because they have dangerous weapons.”
“We beg the police to intensify its clampdown on the gang. This is necessary to rid Egbatedo off criminal activities. The guys are not laying good examples for the younger ones. At the same time, they are tormenting the elders. So, we need more of Friday laudable action.”
