Missing Students: UNIOSUN Student Charged With Kidnap of Missing Students

The police in Osun state have arraigned a 28-year-old student of the Osun State University, on Wednesday, September 28, and charged the suspect with the kidnapping of two missing students.

The suspect identified as Adedamola Olagoke was according to reports, the last person to speak with the missing duo, Samuel Eke and Akinduro Robert who are students of the same university before their disappearance. Adedamola was arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates Court.
The missing duo is students of the Computer Science Department of the varsity and was declared missing » on September 5.
Samuel and Akinduro are reported to have gone to Ogidan Junction after the suspect is alleged to have asked them to meet him, but the duo has been nowhere to be found since 10:54 on that fateful day.
Adedamola is alleged to have conspired with other culprits who are at large, to have the two students kidnapped.
The accused was arrested by the police on September 10, five days after the students went missing.

The suspect, who was prosecuted on three-count charge relating to unlawful imprisonment and kidnapping, pleaded not guilty to allegations levelled against him.

The charge sheet read, “That you Olagoke Adedamola ‘M’ and others now at large between same period and place at the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully kidnapped one Akinduro Robert and took him to unknown destination in such a manner as to prevent any person entitled to have access to him from discovering the place he is imprisoned and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 364(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

“That you Olagoke Adedamola and others now at large between same period and place at the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully kidnapped one Samuel Eke and took him to unknown destination in such a manner as to prevent him from discovering the place he imprisoned and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 364(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”

But the counsel to the respondent, Mr. Kazeem Badmus, prayed the court to admit Adedamola to bail, saying that the accused person would not hinder the trial in any way.

He said the accused person was an asthma patient whose health status had been communicated to the police.

The pleas of the defence counsel were turned down, as Magistrate Falilat Sodamade ordered that the accused person be remanded in prison custody till the next adjourned date of October 6, 2016.

The accused person burst into tears when the court ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody.
